Racial inequality in the United States of America
The racial and ethnic diversity of the United States is rapidly increasing, such that racial and ethnic minorities are expected to comprise more than 50 percent of the U.S. population by 2042, effectively creating a so-called “majority-minority” nation. With Northwestern graduate student Maureen Craig, examines how white Americans react to information about the impending population changes. In a series of experiments, they find consistent evidence that exposure to information about shifting U.S. racial demographics evokes the expression of more implicit and explicit racial bias and greater endorsement of political conservatism. These are mediated by a perception that increases in racial minorities’ societal status will reduce white Americans’ influence in society. The effects suggest that rather than ushering in a more tolerant future, the increasing national diversity could actually yield more intergroup hostility and have untold influence on white Americans’ political participation both now and in the decades to come.
Racial segregation in housing prevented blacks from moving into white neighborhoods and that directly affected employment opportunities, economic status and health outcomes of African Americans
How to Think about Racial and Ethnic Inequality
The shooting incident has raised debates among experts who have tried to weigh the decision of the officer who shot the teenager. This is a case example that shows racial inequality. Addressing citizens from the white house, President Obama acknowledged that there is unequal justice system for criminal in United States of America. In my opinion, if the government can set equal justice systems and enhance education programs for all, this will be a step to minimize cases of racial inequality. In this view, if the judicial systems are harmonized to observe equality for all, then we will not experience cases as the one witnessed in Ferguson

Explanations of Racial and Ethnic Inequality
Racial Profiling, while sometimes used inappropriately, can sometimes be a good thing because it can help cut down on illegal immigrants, drug trafficking, and help prevent terrorism.
Our nation, at its best, pursues the ideal that what we look like and where we come from should not determine the benefits, burdens, or responsibilities that we bear in our society. Because we believe that all people are created equal in terms of rights, dignity, and the potential to achieve great things, we see inequality based on race, gender, and other social characteristics as not only unfortunate but unjust. The value of equality, democratic voice, physical and economic security, social mobility, a shared sense of responsibility for one another, and a chance to start over after misfortune or missteps -- what many Americans call redemption -- are the moral pillars of the American ideal of opportunity.

Racial Inequality After Racism - Foreign Affairs
Approximately 5% of American women of reproductive age experience an unintended pregnancy annually, indicating a significant unmet need for contraception.
Racial Inequality in the 21st Century: The ..
These modern discriminatory practices often combine with historical patterns. In New Orleans, for example, as in many other cities, low-income African Americans were intentionally concentrated in segregated, low-lying neighborhoods and public-housing developments at least into the 1960s. In 2005, when Hurricane Katrina struck and the levees broke, black neighborhoods were most at risk of devastation. And when HUD announced that it would close habitable public-housing developments in New Orleans rather than clean and reopen them, it was African Americans who were primarily prevented from returning home and rebuilding. This and other failures to rebuild and invest have exacerbated poverty -- already at high levels -- among these New Orleanians.
Why Should We Care About Racial Inequality per se
Chapter two assesses the impact of over-the-counter access to emergency contraception on women’s educational attainment using variation in access produced by state legislation since 1998.
On Views of Race and Inequality, Blacks and Whites Are ..
Most people assume that Americans care more about equality of opportunity than equality of outcomes. New work by IPR sociologist and IPR social psychologist is testing this proposition. In contrast to the traditional view, Americans might now consider rising inequality as itself a threat to the “American Dream” of open and expanding opportunities. McCall and Richeson situate this perspective within a new “opportunity model” of beliefs about inequality. In this model, worries about the erosion of opportunity are partly attributed to rising economic inequality. This new frame of mind, unlike the traditional stance, should be open to supporting redistributive policies—but only if they lead to more opportunities in the labor market through, for example, limiting executive pay and lifting pay in the middle and bottom, or by taxing and spending for better schools or job training. Their study received funding from the and has two main components. The first is a media analysis of how American inequality has been discussed over the past 30 years. The second is a series of social psychology experiments designed to probe the conditions that provoke heightened concerns about inequality and support for policies designed to reduce it. In combining a media study with psychological experiments, McCall and Richeson hope to learn more about how conceptions of inequality, opportunity, and redistribution are intertwined in American culture.
